Modern Warfare 3 Due out in November 2011 – A Preview of What to Expect

Rumours have been circulating around the web for a while now concerning the release date of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Numerous retail sources are now confirming that the release date is set for November 8th which is not surprising seeing that it will be on the market just before the Christmas shopping rush.

So what does Modern Warfare 3 have in store for us? Well if you’re a player of Modern Warfare you know that Call of Duty is very much a ‘session’ game that requires fewer tactics and which allows people to play a few rounds in a short amount of time, unlike its rival, Battlefield. This is why Modern Warfare is a top seller and the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 will have to stay away from being heavily tactical if it wishes to keep its loyal following.

We do know that Modern Warfare 3 has been an idea since the release of Modern Warfare 2. Numerous reports have confirmed that Activision Blizzard, Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games are developing MW3. Reports are also suggesting that Modern WarFare 3 will most likely base its graphics off of its predecessor’s graphics. The game will be available to Microsoft Windows operating systems, PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Wii users are sure to be disappointed to learn that that the game will not be available to them as no Call of Duty games have in the past.

There are some multiplayer details circulating online as well. These rumours say that the game will feature cod points but in a re-designed and re-focused way. This may mean that you earn them differently and spend them different ways. Maybe we’ll be given the ability to purchase weapons in single player mode with the points but that is not confirmed as of yet so we’ll just have to wait and see.

The Modern Warfare 3 trailer was premiered at the end of May during the NBA Western Conference Finals. The trailer showed us that the game starts out following the nail-biting ending of Modern Warfare 2 with the United States struggling to fend off a surprise attack by the Russians. The single player version of the game will take players around the globe as they take on the many different roles of a Russian agent, SAS operative, tank gunman and AC-130 gunner. There should be about 15 missions featured in the game, starting with the invasion of Manhattan by a Russia-based force and ending with a final showdown in Dubai.

There will be two new central characters featured in Modern Warfare 3 which are called Frost and Sandman. The two will be taken from the Delta Forces and they may spur a new marketing campaign as Activision is looking to move away from Soap MacTavish and his crew. Most likely one of the new central characters will be one that you play with the other being the character you follow.

So there you have it Modern Warfare fans. Now you’re just going to have to sit back and be patient. November’s not all that long off plus you’ve still got the exciting MW2 to play up until the debut of MW3.

Diablo 3 Beta Details Coming on August 1, 2011

If you’re a fan of Diablo, you are very well aware of the fact that after three years waiting, expecting a release date for Diablo 3 anytime soon is self-defeating and that the game simply will be ready “when it is done”. This is what Blizzard is well known for after all. However, there is finally some great news on the horizon as Diablo 3 beta details will be made available August 1st.

Blizzard will be holding a press conference this month especially for the Diablo 3 beta at their California headquarters. Info and assets from that press event are embargoed until the first of August which clearly indicates that the beta will not be made available until that date. It can be safely assumed that the beta will be made available shortly after the first day of August – at least that’s what we can hope for because again, it’s Blizzard we’re talking about.

 

It is expected that Blizzard will reveal a whole slew of information about the beta at the press event. We might hear of a release date as well as some detailed info regarding the PvP, how long the beta will last and what exactly it consists of. Blizzard is very well known for delaying its products but as of now, things are definitely looking pretty good.
